⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 I read this story with my whole heart, almost without stopping to breathe. I finished all eight volumes back to back, and it wasn’t simply because I wanted to know what would happen next. I reacted to every decision the characters made; I loved, got angry, felt afraid, hoped, and was disappointed. At first, I was constantly on edge, preparing myself for something terrible to happen. But the story lowered all my defenses surprisingly quickly. I found myself growing attached to a character I had initially approached with fear, right alongside the other character. And it didn’t do this through grand romantic declarations, but through tiny things: remembering what someone likes, noticing when they’re cold, finding happiness in their smallest requests, and treasuring their ordinary presence. I think that’s exactly why the anger I felt later became so intense. The story first taught me how to love a character, then made me hate him with the same intensity. At one point, I hated someone I had loved; then I started to understand the person I hated, got angry at myself for understanding him, wanted him to suffer terribly, and eventually watched him change. But the story never told me, “You understand him now, so you should forgive him.” It made me feel that understanding someone doesn’t mean justifying them, that remorse doesn’t erase the past, and that true change isn’t simply about suffering, but about facing the same circumstances again and finally choosing to act differently. The strongest thing this story made me feel about love was that love and hatred aren’t always opposites. You can miss someone while being furious with them, love them without being able to forgive them, and want to get away from them while still desperately wanting them to understand you. Sometimes even the intensity of your hatred can come from how deeply that person matters to you. One thought in particular stayed with me after I finished the story: People in love sometimes put an enormous amount of effort into both loving and hating. Even while these two characters were trying to hate each other, all of their emotions were still directed toward one another. That’s why their story never felt like a simple love-hate story to me. Loving someone deeply didn’t necessarily mean loving them correctly; the fact that someone’s love was genuine didn’t make everything they did in the name of that love right. Likewise, being hurt by someone didn’t instantly erase every beautiful feeling you had for them. Forgiveness wasn’t about forgetting or covering the past with something beautiful either. Sometimes it simply meant being able to say, “I won’t let this pain control the rest of my life.” And choosing someone again didn’t mean denying what had happened in the past. You could choose someone not because you couldn’t live without them, but because even knowing that you could, you still wanted to live with them. Among all these overwhelming emotions, one of the things I loved most was how the story kept showing love through tiny, ordinary moments. Being in the same room, eating together, holding someone’s hand, feeling their warmth, waking up and seeing that the person you love is still beside you... Among all the huge events, these are the things that stayed with me the most. Because what made their love so immense wasn’t only what they were willing to do for each other, but how deeply they treasured each other’s ordinary existence. I also loved that the characters never turned into perfect people. Their fears, obsessions, jealousy, and that terrifying intensity they felt for each other never completely disappeared. If they had, they wouldn’t have been the same people anymore. What changed was what they chose to do with those feelings. Learning to love each other with the same intensity without hurting each other in the same ways was the most beautiful part of their growth for me. Maybe changing doesn’t mean becoming someone else. Maybe it means finding yourself in the same place again and choosing to act differently this time. Over the course of eight volumes, I felt almost every emotion I possibly could toward these two characters. I fell in love, hated them, wanted them to suffer, tried to understand them, got angry at some of their choices, and eventually learned to see both of them differently. Sometimes I wanted them as far away from each other as possible; other times, even the smallest moment of them simply being together broke my heart. That’s why, when the story ended, I didn’t just think, “I read a beautiful book.” I felt this strange emptiness, as though I were leaving behind two people whose lives I had been watching for a very long time. I loved with them, hated with them, feared, raged, longed, and finally found a little peace with them. 5/5. Without hesitation. It was a mesmerizing story.
