Author: Jayden Lee
Jayden Lee spent his early years in Thailand due to his parents' business, attending an international school where English became more familiar than his mother tongue, Korean. However, upon receiving advice from Korean elders that a Korean should not be unable to speak Korean, his parents decided to return to Korea, where he re-entered the Korean education system despite his language barrier. This experience of repeated linguistic and cultural adaptation taught him how to navigate change with flexibility.
He was admitted to the Department of Life Sciences at Sogang University, Korea through the regular admission process. However, during his military service, his father’s advice sparked his interest in business. After his discharge, he pursued a double major in business administration, where he developed strategic thinking skills.
After graduation, he began his career as a new hire at iMarketKorea before venturing into gold mining in Ghana, Africa. However, lacking an understanding of local cultural differences, the business failed within two years, leaving him unemployed and in debt.
Boarding a flight from Ghana to Dubai, he initially planned only a short stay but ended up living there for ten years. In Dubai, he drove a second-hand Ford Taurus with 300,000 km mileage while searching for jobs, sustaining himself with translation and interpretation gigs through Korean newspapers and the embassy. Eventually, he secured a role as an HR Manager at Samsung C&T Middle East, supporting the launch of various construction projects across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, and Algeria, which sparked his interest in Project Management.
Later, he pursued an MBA at London Business School, where he deepened his expertise in project management, global business, and strategic thinking. Following his MBA, he joined the UAE Presidential Office’s National Hospital Establishment Project as an early member, gaining extensive hands-on experience in project management. Currently, he is leading the Middle East hospital establishment project for CHA Medical Group.
Despite being naturally introverted, Jayden holds a strong belief in helping others whenever possible. In Dubai, he assisted numerous individuals in securing jobs, and in Korea, he established a corporation to provide practical support to startup founders aiming for global expansion. He also helps job seekers craft CVs and Cover Letters while providing practical coaching for English interviews.
His journey to employment in Dubai was far from easy—it was a relentless challenge, a true "leap of faith." During his early days, when translation and interpretation were his only sources of income, he found himself shedding tears on the side of a highway at dawn. However, these hardships ultimately helped him grasp the essence of overseas employment and project management.
Drawing from his experience in Samsung C&T’s construction projects, the UAE Presidential Office’s National Hospital Project, interviewing and hiring global talent, and the knowledge gained from his MBA, Jayden developed a conviction: Overseas employment should be approached as a "project"—a structured process where anyone can achieve success with the right strategies.
This book is written to provide practical guidance for individuals seeking overseas employment, leveraging the author's insights gained from his experience as a Project Manager, HR Manager, and Recruiter in the Middle East and global markets.
