텍사스대학교 휴스턴헬스사이언스센터 보건대학원 부교수다. 텍사스대학교 오스틴캠퍼스 전자컴퓨터공학과에서 기계 학습 주제로 박사 학위를 받고 미시간대학교 통계유전학센터에서 박사후 연구원으로 근무했다. 주요 논문으로 “Detecting and estimating contamination of human DNA samples in sequencing and array-based genotype data”(2012), “Evaluating the contribution of rare variants to type 2 diabetes and related traits using pedigrees”(2018), “Semisupervised learning of hyperspectral data with unknown land-cover classes”(2013) 등이 있으며, 80여 편의 논문을 PNAS, AJHG, IEEE를 비롯한 국제 학술지와 학회지에 발표했다.
