Wet Sand(웻샌드)

This story had so much potential. The illustrations are beautiful. I think S1 started off very strong, but the plot started declining at the start of S3. It's a fairly simple story to understand, but it became riddled with plot holes and symbolism that apparently didn't mean much. I think this author was more preoccupied with fan service than the actual development of characters. All characters are very interesting at the start, but don't develop to the potential the author claims. What is off-putting is that this author is more known for being problematic than for her actual work. She told readers they can interpret the story how they want to, but has taken the perspectives of others as personal attacks throughout the years. I believe artists and writers have the right to tell the story they want to, but their actions and treatment of the audience that supports them says a lot about the kind of people they are. People often talk about the fandom, which have intense people on all sides (as well as neutral readers), and this author also contributed to this dynamic. She responds rudely, deletes her tweets, and takes no accountability. There are so many authors who remain professional, have apologized for mistakes, have set firm boundaries for their fandoms without being disrespectful. There are ways to address things efficiently without being selectively combative. Part of being in a fandom is coming up with theories. Doyak mocked readers in the latest chapter. I just feel like there are so many more stories by other writers that respect their readers (at least professionally) who should get your support and money you worked hard for.

I decided to rewrite my comment without all the negativity. But WS is One of my favorite BL stories. I rarely buy physical copies, but I liked this story so much I rented it to support the author AND I am buying the physical copies. It was such a fun read from beginning to end. 100 chapters of pure peak! Thanks Doyak for your amazing work and I am looking forward to reading and buying your next works. Can’t wait for the epilogue and after world. And take care of yourself! ❤️

This story is unnecessarily long, weird and exhausting. If you've read Yours to Claim or any other love triangle, then you already read this one. Unoriginal at its core. If you read chapter 2 and then read chapter 99 & 100, that's enough to see the entire plot. It could have been much better executed, in a meaningful way, had this been 20 chapters and without the second male lead. The story from chapter 1-98 builds one narrative consistently until it's entirely dropped in the last two chapters, undoes everything it had built and leaves the reader hanging. It's astonishing how badly this story did in the third season. It goes in circles and then dies. The main couple is completely unrecognizable in the last 2 chapters and is a copy of what the MC had with the 2nd ML, which is just odd. The author is infamous for being unprofessional and disliking part of her audience and you can see it in the writing. She used to war with fans during season 1. If you're looking for a complex story, this isn't it. She did a surprisingly good job at portraying years of abuse at the hands of a textbook narcissist and focused on the MC suffering for over 20 years to extremes only to romanticize it at the end. The ending makes the 2nd ML obsolete, making us wonder, what was this story for in the end? Why invest time in something that was wrapped up with anger? There are better stories out there. Don't waste your time. Wish i could have a refund of time and money.

I honestly wish I could rate this less than one star. Imagine the worst possible ending to a story you love and this one is somehow even worse. The ending is so badly done that it actually undermines some of the good writing from earlier chapters. What started as a story about overcoming your past and building the life you want, took a complete turn into writing so shallow and frustrating that only gooners that never had wattpad phase at 13 would like and think Collen Hoover is peak writing. In hindsight 80% of the story feels feels irrelevant and meaningless.The main couple lacks depth and their dynamic just centers on trauma and sex, so it can’t carry the story on its own. It feels like the author had to rely on side characters and subplots to keep things interesting. Unfortunately, many characters are either underdeveloped or completely forgotten, along with major plot points. Even the gang subplot, which started off promising, turns into something unrealistic and hard to take seriously.The only real highlight is Joseph Landi, who remains consistent throughout and stands out both in characterization and design. Overall I wouldn't recommend this story and reading it should be used as a torture technique.

Wetsand went from one of the most special manhwas to a complete letdown. It built everything so carefully, only to throw it away in the end. Characters lost all meaning: the one who caused the disaster was rewarded, the main character returned to the same cycle, and Jo, who offered forgiveness and real love, was left in silence. I didn’t expect a moral ending, but with themes of abuse, I expected honesty, not a distorted romantic fantasy disguised as a happy ending. After years of following this, I’m left with emptiness and disappointment.
