Virginia Woolf Short Stories
작품 정보
Virginia Woolf’s short stories explore the subtle movements of human consciousness, memory, and sensation. Moving beyond conventional storytelling, Woolf transforms everyday scenes and fleeting impressions into profound explorations of human experience.
This collection brings together notable works such as A Haunted House, A Society, Monday or Tuesday, An Unwritten Novel, The String Quartet, Blue and Green, Kew Gardens, and The Mark on the Wall. Through experimental narrative techniques, vivid sensory imagery, and the fluid movement of thought, Woolf reveals the hidden complexities of the inner life.
From the quiet details of ordinary existence to the shifting boundaries between perception and reality, these stories demonstrate Woolf’s remarkable ability to discover depth and meaning in seemingly insignificant moments. Her distinctive prose invites readers to experience the world from a fresh perspective and to reflect on the nature of consciousness, identity, and human existence.

작가 소개
Virginia Woolf(1882 ~ 1941)
Virginia Woolf was a British writer and one of the most influential figures in twentieth-century modernist literature. She played a pioneering role in the use of the stream-of-consciousness technique as a literary device.
Virginia Woolf was born in South Kensington, London, into a wealthy and intellectually stimulating family. She was the seventh child of Julia Prinsep Jackson and Leslie Stephen. Educated at home in the English classics and Victorian literature, Woolf later studied classics and history at King’s College London, where she encountered early advocates of women’s rights and education.
In 1912, she married Leonard Woolf. In 1917, the couple founded the Hogarth Press, through which she published many of her own works.
Woolf began publishing her work in earnest around 1900 and gained recognition during the period between the First and Second World Wars through novels such as Mrs Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927), and Orlando (1928), as well as her feminist essay A Room of One’s Own (1929). Her works became central to feminist literary criticism in the 1970s and have been translated into more than fifty languages, continuing to exert a profound influence around the world.
