1.＜궁궐로 떠나는 힐링여행 : 창덕궁＞영문판 출간!

＜궁궐로 떠나는 힐링여행: 경복궁＞의 영문판인 ＜Korean Royal Palace: Gyeongbokgung＞이 2014년 전자책과 종이책으로 출간되었고, 이 책은 제1회 디지털북페어코리아에서 전자책 부문 장려상을 받은 바 있다. 이번에 출간된 ＜궁궐로 떠나는 힐링여행: 창덕궁＞의 영문판인 ＜Korean Royal Palace: Changdeokgung＞도 한국출판문화산업진흥원으로부터 ‘수출전자책 번역 지원 사업’에 선정되어 전자책으로 출간할 수 있는 기회가 마련되었으며, 출판사에서는 우리 궁궐을 세계에 소개하고자 영문판 종이책 출간을 동시에 단행하였다.
＜궁궐로 떠나는 힐링여행: 경복궁＞과 ＜궁궐로 떠나는 힐링여행: 창덕궁＞의 영문판 출간은 우리 궁궐의 올바른 역사와 아름다움을 세계인에게 알려주는 계기를 마련하고자 시도된 기획이다. 이 책들은 단순한 정보 전달의 수준을 벗어나 감상적 궁궐 여행으로의 안내에 도움을 주고 있으며, 처음으로 한국의 궁궐을 접하는 외국인들이 지루하지 않고 재미있게 우리 궁궐을 느낄 수 있도록 정성을 기울였다. 자연 속에 어우러진 창덕궁의 자연스런 아름다움을 따라가다 보면 유네스코 세계문화유산으로서의 창덕궁의 가치를 새삼 깨닫게 되며, 사계절의 아름다움을 사진과 그림으로 보여주고, 역사적 사실들을 외국인의 눈높이에 맞춰 쉽게 번역한 점도 눈에 띈다. 전통 문화의 세계화에 기여하기 위해 수출용 책으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

2. A moment of healing at a rayal palace : Healing Travel to a Korean Royal Palace

…The palace is a place of healing!
During thirty-six years of Japanese occupation, the palace endured the period of its destruction and the wound. Now the palace has transformed to the space awakening our insensitivities. Thus the palace is a healing space for us. At the same time, the palace also needs a healing by telling us about its wound and the history.

…The palace is the story!
In 1910, the last cabinet meeting of the Great Han Empire was held in Heungbokheon Hall in the presence of Emperor Sunjong, and the Great Han Empire lost its sovereignty. Thereafter, Japanese authorities dismantled Gyotaejeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung, which was the symbol of the Royal authority, and used the materials to rebuild the burnt Daejojeon. It shows Japan’s intention to wipe out the already ravaged dignity of the Joseon Royal Court.

…The palace is the history!
The stylish pavilion with its feet immersing in the pond is in the shape of pure lotus flower which is about to blossom. So it has the name of ‘Lotus Pavilion.’

…The palace is a precious cultural heritage!
The palace is an everlasting cultural heritage which exemplifies an ideal balance between the beauty of nature and simplistic architectures. Searching for the lives of the Joseon people by strolling in the palace is the moment of indulging in a cultural fragrance.

궁궐은 힐링이다!
일제강점기 36년 동안 우리의 궁궐은 파괴와 상처의 역사를 견디어냈다.
이제 우리의 메마른 감성을 치유해주는 공간으로 우리에게 궁궐은 힐링이다.
동시에 궁궐도 자신의 상처와 역사를 들려줌으로써 힐링이 필요하다.

… 궁궐은 역사다!
1910년 대조전 흥복헌에서는 마지막 어전회의가 열렸고, 조선은 나라의 국권을 잃었다.
그 후 일제는 조선 왕실을 말살시키고자 경복궁을 훼손시키고, 교태전을 뜯어다가 대조전을 지었다.

… 궁궐은 스토리다!
연못에 발을 담그고 있는 어여쁜 정자는 이제 막 피어난 연꽃의 형상을 하고 있다.
그래서 그 이름 ‘부용정’이라고 지었다.

… 궁궐은 문화다!
우리의 궁궐은 소박한 건축미와 자연미를 보여주는 길이길이 빛나는 문화유산이다.
옛사람들의 삶의 자취를 찾아 떠나는 궁궐 여행은 문화적 향기에 젖어드는 시간이 된다.
