Now, I don’t mean to devalue those other guidebooks in English or other languages, but all of them were written by folks who barely scratched the surface of Korea on a quick visit. This book, though? As a Korean native, who’s spent over five decades in Korea, I’ve acquired an exceptional understanding of the Korean language, culture, and history. From my school days all the way to graduate school, I’ve dove deep into a wide range of subjects, relished the diverse flavors of Korean cuisine, and explored numerous iconic landmarks across Korea. Yet, I’m fully aware that many Koreans have had similar experiences. So, what sets me apart as the author of this book, and what makes me the one behind this book? Allow me to share a few reasons that compelled me to undertake this endeavor.
One of the primary reasons is my background as a journalist. With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare media industry, my expertise lies in translating intricate medical concepts into easily understandable language for a broad audience. It’s worth noting that I am also a doctor, although my current focus does not involve direct patient care. Throughout my career, I have published numerous articles, columns, and books on healthcare-related topics. Additionally, I have even authored a novel set in a hospital, which was later adapted into a popular TV drama. Next, I’m a seasoned traveler with a true knack for planning and preparing for trips.
